This means that they will need a photo of the storefront and a copy of your business license to ensure that you are indeed a legitimate business and that you do operate during the usual business hours.

Myth #3: If a business has an answering service that can take calls 24/7, they can claim that they are open 24/7.

If there is staff present at the business location 24 hours a day and seven days a week, then they’re a business that is open 24/7. An answering service does not cut it. If you’re a business that has a day where you operate by appointment only, you should not list your hours.

Myth #4: Practitioner listings should be merged because they are all duplicates.

No. They shouldn’t. There are so many doctors, dentists, lawyers, real estate agents, etc. And the listings are not considered duplicates at all. The only time a listing is considered a duplicate is when the listing has the same name, address, and so on regardless of the category.

Myth #5: It will be easier to find you if you add keywords to your business name.

Your business name should be your real-world business name. It should not be a keyword like “dental services”. For example, it makes a lot more sense if the name is “Bright Smiles Dentistry” as opposed to “Bright Smiles Dentist Near Me”. Or “Jones Law Office” instead of “Jones Divorce Attorney Law Office”.
